Show Me Your Teeth

Show Me Your Teeth

Shark Week.

It’s an annual summer programming stunt that’s morphed into a cultural phenomenon. It’s been on air for 24 years- and people still.go.crazy.over.shark.week. After 24 years of just sharks, you’d think people would start to get a little bored, but nope- most still love Shark Week as much as ever.

So what’s the deal? Why has Shark Week been so successful with viewers?

Creativity Isn’t New

Creativity Isn’t New

I’m a sucker for all things shiny.

You might as well liken me to a raccoon when I see something that glitters. The more that sparkles in jewelry, furniture, clothing, (ahem) LIFE — the better.

In advertising, my eye often lands on the ‘shiny’ new ways of advertising made possible by sophisticated and/or emerging technologies. And there are some pretty amazing companies/agencies/creative people who are making some really shiny advertisements.

OMG I’m like sooo Popular!

OMG I’m like sooo Popular!

I had to get a new phone this week, (thanks Verizon for replacing my defective Droid at no cost!) and when I set up/synced my contact list I was shocked to see that I had over 800 contacts… holy s*$t batman! 800+ friends across facebook and gmail? I must be, like, sooo popular.

Sikkeee. Yes, I have 800+ ‘contacts’ in my phone, over 700 ‘friends’ on facebook, 450+ ‘followers’ on twitter, and over 200 ‘connections’ on linkedin. But c’mon… how many ‘friends’ or ‘followers’ do you think I interact with on a daily/weekly/heck… even yearly basis? Probably 5%-10%. (And that’s probably being generous)

Happy Mother’s Day!

Happy Mother’s Day!

Happy Mother’s Day to the best Mom ever, Mama Al!

Yeah, yeah, yeah… I know I’m late, but I didn’t want to spoil my card in case Mama Al read my post before she opened it.

Seriously, this card was made for us. How in the world could Papyrus know us so well?

Finding a perfect card is always such a rush for me- partially because it always seems to take me ages to find ‘the’ card, and partially because when I do find ‘the’ card I always feel so connected to the recipient, even if I will be far away when he/she opens it. When I find ‘the’ card I always have a huge grin and look of incredibility on my face- how in the world was I lucky enough to find such a perfect card?! It’s like these card makers know me.
